A fun day kayaking on the Thief River.

Day 1:

8-9:30 am

Start your day with a hearty breakfast or muffin & fruit at one of our fine restaurants.

9:30-11:30 am

 After breakfast, grab a latte at a local coffee shop, then head downtown Thief River Falls for more shopping at chic shops.

11:30-1:00 pm

Take time for an elegant lunch or grab something quick and take a walk along the river.

1-3:00 pm

Venture to the Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village, 825 Oakland Park Road, to take a step into the past. The village has 19 buildings, including a museum, Victorian house, 2 railroad depots, schoolhouse, church & 7 log houses. Admission is $5 per person. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

3-4:00 pm

Head across Hwy 32 to Digi-Key Corporation, 701 Brooks Ave., for a free tour! Call ahead to reserve, 218-681-6674. Digi-Key is the 5th largest electronic component distributer in North America, 9th largest in the world. Digi-Key ships to 140 countries worldwide and utilizes state of the art technologies to process its 2 million annual orders.

4-5:00 pm

Check into your hotel and relax before dinner & a night on the town.

5-10:00 pm

Enjoy dinner and check out Thief River Falls' night life!

 

Day 2

8-9:00 am

Have breakfast at the hotel and board the vehicle or bus.

9:00 am- 2:00 pm

Pick up a bag lunch and travel 22 miles north of Thief River Falls to the largest wildlife refuge in Minnesota, Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge; where you will find over 280 species of birds! Take the "Lost Bay Habitat Drive", a four-mile self guided auto tour route, open from May-October. Three hiking trails are also located within the refuge. Group tours should be arranged by contacting the refuge office at 218-449-4115.

2-4:00 pm

Continue your nature-viewing at Thief Lake Wildlife Management Area where you'll find wildlife such as waterfowl and other marsh birds, deer, moose, bear, grouse, rabbits, songbirds, sandhill cranes and raptors. Take a walk around the lake or relax on a blanket before heading back into the city.

4 - 5:00 pm

Return to your hotel to freshen up before dinner. The evening is on your own. Take a walk, meet the locals, or just enjoy the fresh air...

Day 3

8 - 9:30 am

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.

9:30 -11:30 am

Take a stroll down our delightful Riverwalk and stop at the nine parks along the route. Fifteen pictographs (like the Ojibwe Village, Ice Harvesting and the Meehan Sawmill are found along several miles of trail, showing what the view along the river was like many years ago. The Riverwalk travels through town along the Red Lake and Thief Rivers, passing by three forest trails, the dam and historical sites such as the Soo Line Railroad Depot and the statue of Chief Meskokonaye.

11:30 - 1:00 pm

Take a break in your day for a delicious lunch before heading out of town.

1-4:00 pm

Explore Minnesota's northern-most vineyard, 2 Fools Vineyard, 8 miles SE of Thief River Falls! Tours, Free Tasting & Gift Shop. Open Saturdays & Sundays June through Mid-October, Noon - 5 p.m.

4-8:00 pm

Stop at Seven Clans Casino & Waterpark for the evening. Exciting casino floor with slot machines, blackjack tables and Texas Hold'em poker tables. If you're not a gambler, float around the lazy river or check out the 750 ft. of slides at the indoor waterpark before treating yourself to their All You Can Eat Buffet!

8:00 pm

Head back to into town or stick around for a night of fun at Seven Clans!

Day 4

8-9:30 am

Grab a bite to eat at your Thief River Falls hotel before heading to Arctic Cat, Inc.

9:30-11 am

Learn everything there is to know about the design, manufacturing & marketing of Arctic Cat snowmobiles and ATVs on a free tour of Arctic Cat, Inc! Located at 600 Brooks Ave. Tours offered seasonally, M-F. Please call ahead for large groups 218-681-8558.
